The first event of the European Year 2008 flagship project Diversidad will be organised in Stockholm in Kägelbanan (Södra Teatern) on 27 May. It will feature seminars on topics such as language barriers in Europe and the uniting role of music, the Scandinavian hip-hop scene and building a joint platform for urban music. Speakers from Belgium, France, Germany, Norway, UK, Spain and Sweden will share their experiences and ideas on how to initiate cross-border collaborations.
In the evening, a marathon of concerts and shows featuring over 15 Scandinavian and European top DJs and MCs will perform in Kägelbanan. Among featured artists are:

The DIVERSIDAD pan-European flagship project has been set up by the European Music Office (EMO) and the association Diversités. Key supporters of the project are the musicians ABD AL MALIK, European ambassador for intercultural dialogue, AKHENATON (IAM) and NIKKIFURIE (La Caution).The aim of the project is to provide a platform for players in European urban culture to get to know one another and to share their ideas and cultures. A digital platform has been set up for this purpose at www.myspace.com/diversidadexperience, where people from all over Europe can also create and submit their own remix of a hip-hop single that has been created by established European hip-hop artists. The project will culminate in the Austrian capital of Vienna, in a European get-together, which will take place parallel to the EURO 2008 football championship from 23 to 25 June.
The next DIVERSIDAD event will be held in Madrid on 30-31 May during the Cultura Urbana Festival.
